How about laptops?
We do hope to be able to make some recommendations in the future, but
laptops are always going to be more difficult because the laptop
itself is your experience. In the mean time we recommend:
- Buy XP Pro.
- Keep it under warranty or maintenance. The
IT Services laptop maintenance agreement
offers very good value.
- Don't let your children play with it. "That's daddy/mummy's work
computer".
- Regularly back it up or use Active Directory.
- Avoid having unencrypted confidential information.
