Aims

This module aims to develop the student's knowledge and understanding of interprofessional collaboration. It is underpinned with sociological concepts and highlights the skills - shared and generic - required for contemporary educational, health and social care practice

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students should be able to:

Module Specific Skills

  • relate sociological concepts to various contexts;
  • describe key sociological concepts relevant to contemporary healthcare practice;
  • describe and demonstrate effective Interpersonal skills;
  • explain the basis of interprofessional learning and working within the healthcare context;

  • use professional literature and cite it correctly;
  • use appropriate sources of information to develop own knowledge;

Personal and Key Skills

  • communicate and report information effectively;
  • work effectively as part of a team;
  • participate actively in seminars and workshops.

Learning and Teaching Methods

Lectures (8×1hour), seminars (8×1hour), IPL themed workshops (4×1hour),

Assignments

Preparation of oral presentation. Preparation of report. Directed background reading.

Assessment

One 10 minute individual presentation (40% weeks 18-20); one 2000 word report (60%); an appropriate contribution to the Interprofessional Workshop is required for award of credit.
