Postgraduate Admissions

We have PhD Studentships available.

Postgraduate Studies

The School's research activities take place within research groups, and one group is responsible for the taught masters programme.

All students are assigned to one of these groups to provide a stimulating environment with access to academic and postdoctoral staff and fellow postgraduate students working in related areas. This group structure provides a very positive support mechanism for all students. It helps research students to sustain productive research, and over 90% complete within the EPSRC deadline period, with most publishing between three and five scientific papers during their period of study, and contributing to at least one international conference.

The School prides itself on the high quality of its students and of the supervision they receive. The research-group structure and the lively and supportive culture of the School ensure that the PhD student experience at Exeter is of a very high standard.

Postgraduate students on the taught masters programme benefit from a close interaction with group members, broadening their background in general aspects of medical physics.

Financial Support

UK and EC research students are eligible for EPSRC (Quota and Case) and MRC awards. UK and EC masters students are eligible for EPSRC Advanced Studentships; students taking the medical physics MSc programme on a part-time basis may be supported through Health Authority Trainee Posts (details of the application process are available on request).
