Biomedical ImagingThe group has a long history in the development of MRI techniques and now oversees the 1.5T clinical scanner at the Peninsula MR Centre. We are involved in a number of collaborative projects, including functional imaging of brain activity related to tactile perception and in cases of chronic pain. Within the group, a number of projects concerning the extraction of biophysical and physiological data from MR images of bone, cartilage and intervertebral disc benefit from the expertise of clinically qualified staff on the Medical Imaging Programme. This work also relates to projects on vascular biophysics and the extracellular matrix |
