Pre-University Physics CourseExeter 6 - 8 July 1998
CourseThis course is intended for students who are or have been studying Physics or Physical Sciences at A or A/S level and are considering entry to University to study Physics or related subjects.It will provide a taste of University life in all its diversity: in the three days, students will attend lectures, visit the research and teaching laboratories of the School of Physics, live in University accommodation and make use of the University's recreational facilities, including the Sports Hall. The course will begin at 12 noon on Monday 6 July with lunch, the last session will end at approximately 12 noon on Wednesday 8 July. Accommodation for the nights of 6 and 7 July will be available in a University Hall of Residence. The first lecture starts at 2.00 pm.
CostsThe course fee, including accommodation in a Hall of Residence and full board, will be £57.00. The cost of the course for non-residents will be £20.00; lunch may be taken in the University Refectory at a cost of £3.65 per day and dinner in the Hall of Residence at a cost of £5.50 per day. Snacks at lunchtime are also available on campus, coffee and soft drinks will be available at no extra charge each morning.
TravelExeter benefits from regular coach and rail services, and in many cases reduced fares are available. Participants should make their own arrangements for travel to and from Exeter (it is advisable to book a seat, particularly for the return journey) and they should enquire from their Local Education Authority whether they are able to claim a contribution towards the cost of the course. A coach will be available for free transport both ways between Exeter St David's train station and the University. Detailed information will be sent on registration.
