Teaching Quality Officer
Role Description
The role holder is responsible for the timetabling and orchestrating of annual reviews of teaching.
The aim of the tasks carried out by the role holder are (i) to ensure module leads embed the expected standards in their teaching practice and (ii) to encourage innovative and creative approaches to course development informed by student feedback, peer feedback and the module lead’s own critical self-reflection
Accountabilities
The role holder will operate under the direction of the Directors of Education and Student Experience (DoE and DESE) and sit on the Education Committee, chaired by the DoE.
Minor changes to module descriptors and assessments may be approved by ESE APVC for Education; major changes are subject to the formal process of Programme Approval, which is underpinned by the Teaching Quality Assurance Manual.
Main Duties
The duties will include the following, with departmental administrative support available.
- Assign peer reviewers for all taught modules; distribute list and Peer Review Forms to all teaching staff; ensure peer reviews are completed and completed Peer Review Forms are available for module reviews.
- Organize and conduct module reviews and ensure actionable items are embedded by module leads (or Stage Coordinators, where appropriate) within an academic year.
- Work with Professional Services colleagues to collate the results of student questionnaires (e.g. Accelerate; mid-module questionnaires) ahead of module reviews.
- Assist the DoE to organise the programme review meeting at the beginning of the academic year.
