Disability Liaison Officer

Role Description

  1. Act as the Department's academic contact for enquiries related to disabilities.
  2. Coordinate resolution of issues raised by students with disabilities, e.g. following up claims that ILP requirements have been overlooked.
  3. Advise students with disabilities that are not appropriately covered by the standard procedures.
  4. Ensure that students identified as having a disability during the admissions process, have been made aware of procedures associated with obtaining an Assessment Summary.
  5. Liaise with the College AccessAbility Liaison Officer as circumstances require.
  6. Liaise with the University's AccessAbility Service as circumstances require.
  7. Facilitate developments in good practice originating College and University level.
  8. Report matters requiring changes to standard practice to the Director of Education and/or Education Committee.
  9. Act as a source of advice/information for Mitigation Committee.
  10. With the Director of Education, review proposals for adjustments originating from the AccessAbility Service. Ensure that all such adjustments are reasonable and satisfy the applicable legal requirements.
