Assessment Norms

These assessment norms are indicative and describe the pattern and weight of assessments used in modules delivered by the Department. New and amended module descriptor are compared with these norms as part of the module approval process.

Physics Modules

Modules with codes starting PHY should conform to the following assessment norms:

Where formal reports are used to assess work, a formula based on 300–500 words per credit is used. For example, the word-limit for a report comprising 50% of the assessment of a 15-credit module would lie in the range 2250–3750 words.
