General Information

Our Dartmoor walks normally take place on the last Sunday of each month. Staff and postgraduates of the School together with their family and friends are more than welcome to come along.

We meet in the School car park at the rear of the slab block. We leave at 9:00am, so if you haven't arrived by 9:00, we assume that you will not be joining us. We normally get back about 5:00 pm

Bring food and drink for the day, (plenty of drink if the day is going to be a hot one).

Equipment.

Walking boots and waterproof clothing are advisable but not absolutely necessary. Dartmoor has a lot of wet areas so be prepared for wet feet if you don't have the right footwear. Taking some extra layers of clothing is a good idea, they can always be left in the car once you know the conditions on the moor. The weather on the moor can be considerably different from how it is in Exeter.

Transport.
Transport can be provided if required, although occasionally,  this can be limited. Please let me know if it is needed so that I can ensure that we have sufficient space. We have never disappointed anyone yet but there is always a first time.

We share the cost of the petrol which is generally between £1:50 - £2:00.

Weather.
If the weather forecast is doubtful call me to check that the walk is still on. Please call 01392 679705 between 7:45 - 8:15am on the morning of the walk. If you arrive without phoning, you may find the car park empty. Any walk that has to be postponed will hopefully take place the following Sunday.

If you need any other information please do not hesitate to contact me. You can find me in the Thin Film Photonics Research Lab or the Mechanical Workshop or by email P.S.Cann@exeter.ac.uk
