Problems Classes - Second Year

1. These will be held at 14:00-16:00 pm on Fridays in Newman A in weeks 3-11, 16-24.
2. A sheet of problems, A, will be distributed on the previous Friday.

3. This sheet must be completed before the class.

4. Students are divided into groups supervised by a class tutor. The tutors will monitor the attendance and progress of each student in his group throughout the session.

5. Students will deliver to the room of their class tutor, on the Wednesday (by 13:00) before the class, their solutions to sheet A (from week 4 onwards in Semester I) which will be then be marked.

6. The problems class mark contributes 10% to each core module mark.
7. At the class, students will be given a sheet B and work through this sheet until 15:30.

8. Students are allowed to confer among themselves but scripts MUST be work of individual student. The University has strict rules on plagiarism. Students who copy one another's work will be reported to the HOS.

9. The tutors will circulate among their tutees in the first hour, finding out how they are getting on, encouraging them, giving them hints, and above all stopping them talking about cricket!
10. At 15:30, the students reassemble in lecture room E. The tutors will return the marked sheet A and discuss the progress of the student. Afterwards, the presenter will go over the solutions for sheet A.

11. The solutions to part B will be placed in the library.

12. There will be 6 homework sessions in semester I and 7 in semester II.
