Practice Exercises

These practice exercises accompany the second part of the module. All the information required for the Foundation Mathematics part can be found in the task sheets which themselves refer to practice exercises in the Core Text, Stroud, Engineering Mathematics.

These exercises are both for your own private study and for the Problems Classes associated with each section. The questions to be covered in Problems Classes are marked with asterisks on the exercise sheets; the solutions to these will be discussed in the classes themselves. The other solutions are available below.

You are advised to try the questions before looking at the answers or solutions.

Note: some documents on this site are only accessible from machines located within the University Exeter network. It is possible to access these from off-campus machines by using the University's Virtual Private Network (VPN) Service.

If you have trouble printing pdf files directly from your browser (wrong fonts, boxes appear instead of text or equations...) try saving the pdf as a file on disk, opening it in Preview (Mac OS X) or Adobe Reader (any platform), and printing from there. This approach has been tested and works on the 3rd-floor macs.
