The Surface Plasmon Photonics series of conferences began in 2001 with an Exploratory Workshop suggested by Prof. Thomas Ebbesen, sponsored by the European Scieince Foundation, and convened by Henri Lezec and Bill Barnes
The success of this first meeting led to a second, organized by Francisco Garcia-Viadal and Luis Martin-Moreno, held in Granada in 2003. There have since been meetings in Graz (2005), Dijon (2007) and this year (2009) the conference
will go to Amsterdam SPP4
