Optical Images
These are images taken either through an optical microscope or with a digital camera. Included are pictures of whole insects as well as smaller sections and even single scales.

Electon Microscopy Images
These are images taken with an electron microscope. Some of the images are taken using a Transmission Electron Microscope and others a Scanning Electron Microscope and they are therefore presented in grey-scale.
