The Role of Link Radiographers
Introduction
There are two link radiographers at each clinical placement site
listed in the Code of Practice for
Clinical Placements.
Specific Duties
Link Radiographer will:
- be familiar with requirements of clinical placements as described in the Medical Imaging
Handbook for NHS Staff Supervising Radiography Undergraduates
- oversee student training within the placements and to ensure the
students are allocated the appropriate range of experience as detailed
in the module descriptions for each practice placement module;
- provide clinical and pastoral support to the students where
appropriate, and to inform the Clinical Placement Coordinator of the need for additional support as necessary;
- keep the Clinical Placement Coordinator and the Clinical Tutor
informed of any concerns regarding student progress and welfare;
- ensure new clinical staff are aware of relevant aspects of the
programme (e.g. giving feedback to the students, attendance records,
signing the competency log, etc.), and to introduce new clinical staff to
the Clinical Tutor, at the first opportunity, so that the Clinical Tutor
can provide a more detailed induction to the programme;
- attend, wherever possible, the twice-yearly link days held at the
University of Exeter (held before Easter so that the links can meet the
new Stage 1 students and in September);
- provide feedback, when requested, to the academic staff on aspects
of the programme provision that directly relate to clinical practice.
