Procedures for Payment of Demonstrators

In order to be paid for their work, postgraduate demonstrators must complete a claim form each month. If it is the first claim of the Income Tax year, they must also complete a tax form which will be provided by the School Administrator on request. To ensure claims are paid promptly, the following procedure must be followed:

  1. All student demonstrators will need a supply of forms for payment during the academic year. These are available from the School Administrator

  2. At the beginning of each month, postgraduate demonstrators have to fill in a form for the work done in the previous month. (First time all sections to be filled and then only the top and Part B. At the start of employment by the School, a tax form P46 is to be filled in as well, unless a P45 from a previous employment is available.)

In Part B the demonstrators clearly indicate name of the class, date and duration of each session. They sign and date the form themselves (in part C, under Claimant) and then get the authorising signature (in part B, next to the details of the work undertaken) of the person responsible for their class, to confirm that the information is correct.

  3. The completed form, with both signatures, goes to the School Administrator who checks the forms, signs part C, and sends them to Finance Office in Northcote House, keeping in the file a copy of everything sent.

To get the form processed and paid the same month, it should be sent to NH by the published claims closing date.
