Job Description

  1. Be familiar with all aspects of the module structure of a particular Stage so as to advise students.
  2. Be available to - and be proactive in identifying - students in difficulty and endeavour to establish source of problem and suggest remedy.
  3. Act as mentor for non-academic and external staff responsible for delivering modules. In particular, confirm that the level, assessment, and workload expected of the students conforms to normal University practice and is in accordance with with the published module descriptions.
  4. Act as mentor for post-doctoral and new staff acting as tutors, etc. (see also Code of Practice - Part-Time Teachers ).
  5. Review progress of students on the basis of marks from assessment and reports from tutors.
  6. Follow-up issues arising from meetings with students.
  7. Receive reports of non-attendance from Tutors, Lab-Coordinators, etc. and issue School's Warning Form as necessary.
  8. Decide which students need to be put on report and notify School Office accordingly.
  9. Facilitate the Procedure for Changing of Tutors as circumstances require.
