Director of the MR Centre
Job Description
This job requires knowledge and familiarity with the relevant safety regulations and keeping abreast of changes in addition to the following specific responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the running of the Centre
- Arranging and chairing the periodic meetings of the MR Management Board
(with representatives from various Schools, from the PMS and from the
University of Plymouth) which provides support for the Director and
formulates overall policy for the Centre.
- Supervision of the Experimental Officer who supports day-to-day running
of the Centre.
- Risk management; specification and implementation of safety procedures to
safeguard staff, subjects and patients in this potentially hazardous
environment; supervision of training for authorised users.
- Financial management of the Centre, including preparation of an annual
business plan; overall responsibility for income generation.
- Liaison with researchers from outside the University (hospitals,
universities, etc., in the South West and beyond) to plan new research
projects and assist in current projects (also similar support for
researchers from within the University).
- Liaison with commercial users of the Centre, including contribution to
negotiation of contracts.
- Liaison with Philips in relation to scientific support, technical support
and maintenance; planning of upgrades to the system.
- Liaison with Buildings and Estates, in relation to general maintenance
and building management.
