Laboratory Co-ordinator (Computing)

Job Description

1. Keep the machines in rooms 309/310 in good order and running reliably.
2. Register users on the file server.
3. Assist PHY1108 instructor with Week 1 Email and WWW Familiarisation Sessions for new students.
4. Deal with printer charges.
5. Help staff using the facilities to exploit them appropriately for teaching.
6. Keep reasonably well-informed of developments in relevant software/hardware.
7. Notify handbook editor of updates required to on-line documentation.
8. Promote and facilitate the incorporation of computer-based skills, demonstration, and self-teaching elements within the taught programmes.
9. Negotiate software/hardware deals.
10. Provide advice to users on the facilities available and the appropriate line of software.
11. Identify interesting physics-related software.
