Diagnostic x-ray room

Students at Exeter learn through practical as well as theoretical experience. These Radiography students are learning how to x-ray and once they have finished their degree will be able to gain employment as fully trained Radiographers.

Within the school we have a fully functional diagnostic x-ray room consisting of a ceiling mounted Siemens Multix Top ACSS x-ray tube and a Konica Regius 150 computed radiography processor.

Students are able to undertake practical work including practicing positioning and radiographing a PIXY whole body phantom, learning about the equipment, and undertaking quality control checks of the equipment.

Students are also able to utilise the equipment for their third year research project and conduct a variety of experiments such as: investigating the use of filters, and exploring the impact of angulation on image quality and dose.

The x-ray room also accommodates two ultrasound machines, and a resolution and doppler string phantom which students can use for undertaking their research projects, which has included effect of frequency of the probe on image quality.

Equipment

  • Konica Regius 150 Direct Digitizer
  • Siemens Sonoline SL 1 Ultrasound
  • Siemens Sonoline Versa Pro Ultrasound

Guidelines for students on booking and usage of the X-ray Room (G27) can be found here.
